Emergency Lighting
Emergency Lighting is a back-up system essentially needed in an emergency. If normal lighting fails the emergency lights will then provide adequate lighting to provide a safe exit avoiding hazards to human life, either through physical danger or panic. If fire occurs it is essential to quickly locate fire fighting equipment and identify exit routes to evacuate the building as quickly as possible. We will guide you through everything from the design and consultation stage to full installation and maintenance of the system.
The British Standard provides the emergency lighting designer with clear guidelines to work to. BS 5266-1: 2011 embraces residential hotels, clubs, hospitals, nursing homes, schools and colleges, licensed premises, offices, museums, shops, multi-storey dwellings, etc.
Although this standard recommends the types and durations of emergency lighting systems relating to each category of premises, it should be remembered that the standards are the minimum safe standards for these types of building and that a higher standard may be required for a particular installation.
Maintenance Schedule
Once your emergency lighting is installed it is important than you continue to test the functionality of your system to ensure it can perform as expected in the event of an emergency. Performing routine testing and maintenance also ensures the longevity of battery life and prolongs the lifespan of the system.
The maintenance schedules we offer clients would normally be broken down as a monthly functional test and an annual full discharge test. These tests can be arranged out of hours if required to minimise disruption to staff or customers.
